Dr Krishna P Singh awarded George Washington Medal
Dr Krishna P Singh, PhD, PE and a distinguished 1967 ME alumnus of BIT Sindri was awarded the prestigeous George Washington Medal by The Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia on May 29, 2014 in recognition of his contributions to the engineering profession. The George Washington Medal, initiated in 1967, is awarded to an individual for outstanding contribution to technological progress through engineering management and for exemplary support of such technological progress by key decision-makers outside the engineering field.
Dr. Singh is the Founder and CEO of Holtec International, a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for the Nuclear, Solar, Geothermal, and Fossil Power Generation sectors of the energy industry headquartered in Marlton, NJ. He has established a stellar career in industry, with Holtec and the Joseph Oat Corp before that and in academia as a professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania as well as a holder of over 50 U.S. and foreign patents.
While the demands of running a $300+ million company can draw one away from the purely technical side of engineering, Dr. Singh has “kept his hands in it” as the author or co-author of numerous technical publications. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and a member of the American Nuclear Society. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Michigan. Dr. Singh has been a standout contributor in the business, science and education of engineering, and he has recently enlarged that footprint further in the opening of the new Krishna P. Singh Center for Nanotechnology at the University of Pennsylvania. The Singh Center is the first purely nanotech-focused research facility in the region and will lead the way to new discoveries and innovations.
Congratulations to Dr Singh on this great honor which he deserves so eminently.
