Technical Education to be
costlier in Jharkhand #

Technical Education will
be costlier from the next academic session in Jharkhand following the
cabinet decision on Wednesday. The students taking admission in BIT
Sindri, Govt Polytechnics, Mining Institutes and ITIs will have to pay
more from the next session.
Revising the fee
structure after a gap of 57 years, the government on Wednesday decided
to hike the tuition fee of BIT Sindri to Rs.7700/= from the existing fee
of Rs.152/= per annum. For Govt Polytechnics, Mining Institutes and ITIs,
it will be Rs.2400/= per year. At present the students taking admission
in these institutions pay tuition fee of Rs.77/= per annum.
The students belonging to
SC and ST communities will enjoy a rebate in tuition fees, however. They
will have to pay only 25% of the tuition fees. Giving details of the
hike, the Cabinet Secretary J B Tubid said, the tuition fees of the
technical institutions was continuing for more than 57 years. The last
hike took place in the year 1950. .........
