New Delhi, Dec 4 (BJNS) Acting on a JD-U petition, Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu has disqualified rebel party leaders Sharad Yadav and Ali Anwar.
According to the official order, Mr Yadav had "voluntarily given up his membership of the political party, Janata Dal (United) by which he was set up as a candidate for election to the Rajya Sabha" and has "incurred disqualification". While Ali Anwar, was disqualified for following Mr Yadav and indulging in anti-party activities
The order was issued on a petition filed by JD (U) MP RCP Singh on September 2, seeking disqualification of Sharad and Anwar on ground of defection. It has been uploaded on the Rajya Sabha website.
The development comes after the Election Commission recognised the Nitish-led JD(U) faction as the real party and entitled it to use the reserved 'arrow' poll symbol.
