Jharkhand government is planning to hold annual Matri-Pitri Pujan ceremony in government schools where over five million students study mostly from villages and slums. The idea is to instil respect in children for their parents which is the culture and tradition of our country.
As per reports, Jharkhand education minister Neera Yadav has already given instruction to the education secretary to issue directive to the schools to conduct the event.
The BJP government in Chhattisgarh has already declared February 14 (Valentine's Day) as Parents' Day (Matru-Pitru Divas) on the advice of jailed godman Asaram Bapu.
Neera Yadav was however inspired by a school program where where parents sat on chairs while their children stood before them and the children were directed by teachers to apply tilak, garland their parents and touch their feet.
